Chalet-style lodge sited in a landscaped garden plot

Brighton is the busiest spot we move statics into, and the city traffic is the whole challenge. We are based near Rye, a straight run west along the A27 coastal corridor, so we reach Brighton directly without going near the M25 or any Thames crossing. A static caravan or park home over 2.9 metres wide counts as a wide or abnormal load, and threading one through a packed seafront city takes planning rather than luck. We time the move around the worst of the A23 and A27 congestion, pick a route that keeps clear of the tightest one-way streets, and tell you honestly if your access looks awkward before we commit to a date.

Holiday parks near Brighton

Brighton itself is more city than caravan park, so most of our park work sits just along the coast on either side. To the west the Brighton, Lancing and Shoreham strip has sites within easy reach off the A259 and A27, and to the east the East Sussex coastal parks around Pevensey Bay and Normans Bay are a short hop along the same corridor. Whether we are bringing a static onto a coastal pitch or taking an older unit off for scrapping, the limiting factor is rarely the open road; it is the park entrance, the internal lanes and the gap between neighbouring units. We always want a look at those before the day.

Private-site, farm and residential moves

Plenty of Brighton statics never go near a holiday park. We move units onto private plots across the city fringe and up into the Downs villages behind it, often bought as a place to live in while a house is gutted and rebuilt, or sited on a smallholding for glamping. City plots tend to be tight on space and overlooked by parked cars, so access is usually the sticking point rather than distance. Send us photos of the gateway and the pitch and we will tell you straight whether it goes in clean or needs a bit of preparation first.

Roads and moving an abnormal load

From our Rye base the A259 and A27 take us straight west into Brighton along the coast, with the A23 and M23 dropping in from London and the north. The A27 is the spine of everything we do here and it can crawl, especially around the city, so timing matters. Inside Brighton the steep streets off the seafront, the tight one-way system around The Lanes and North Laine, and low-hanging branches on the residential roads are the real obstacles for a wide load, not the trunk roads. We plan the final mile carefully so a big unit is never committed to a street it cannot get back out of.

What we need to give you an accurate quote

For an accurate Brighton price we need two sets of photographs. First, the caravan or unit itself, with its exact length and width, since anything over 2.9 metres wide changes how we plan and notify the move. Second, the access at both ends: the gateway or park entrance, the driveway or pitch, any tight turns, low branches, parked-car pinch points and narrow or weight-limited streets. Brighton access is usually the deciding factor, so the more you show us the more solid the quote. Send them over with the postcodes and we will come back with a clear, fixed figure.

Brighton static caravan transport FAQs

Do you need police escorts to move a static into Brighton? Not usually. For a static over 2.9 metres wide we notify the relevant police and highway authorities ahead of the move, generally a couple of working days in advance per district we pass through. An escort only comes into play when a load is exceptionally wide or long, or the route is genuinely difficult. We will tell you in advance whether your move needs one.

Can you get a static through the narrow streets near the seafront? Often yes, but it depends entirely on the unit width and the specific street. The Lanes and the steeper residential roads off the front are the tightest part of any Brighton move. With photos of the access and the unit size we can plan a route that avoids the worst pinch points, or tell you early if a particular pitch simply will not take a full-width caravan.

This page also covers static caravan transport for Hove, Worthing, Haywards Heath, Crawley and Horsham. The parks, roads and access issues are much the same across this part of Sussex, so the same team, permits and routing apply – just tell us the postcode when you ask for a quote.
